Vidor Lions accepting names for engraving at “Fields of Freedom”

Posted by T Bussinger. Posted in Front Page

The Vidor Lions are currently accepting names for engraving on the military ledgers at the Vidor Lions Veteran’s Park “Fields of Freedom”.

The five large granite ledgers currently in the park include the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard and Merchant Marine branches of service. In addition the park has a granite ledger listing names of soldiers killed in action (KIA). The Army ledger is limited on the amount of space left for engraving. Once the current Army ledger is full additional application will not be accepted until which time another ledger can be erected.

Request for applications are available by contacting the Vidor Lions club through request at info@vidorlions.org or by calling Joanne Ledger at (409) 828-1322.

Use either contact above if you have any questions.

Applications can also be picked up at Goin Postal on Main Street and the Vidor Public Library on East Boliver Street.

Applications must be accompanied by proof of honorable discharge (i.e. form DD214). On KIA wall engraving proof required of KIA status. Forward the application along with $100 either in check or money order for engraving to Vidor Lions Club, 111 N. Main St. #130, Vidor, Texas. All funds go toward engraving or maintenance of the Veteran’s Park.

Even though the park is in Orange County soldiers listed on the granite ledger do not have to be from Vidor or Orange County.
