News Release from Chief Rod CarrollSubject: Threat against Church in Vidor, Texas
Date: December 30, 2018
On Sunday, December 30, 2018 at approximately 4:00 pm, the Vidor Police Department received information from the Seguin Police Department, Texas in reference to a threat against First Baptist Church in Vidor. The Vidor Police Department immediately contacted the Pastor and advised him of the situation. We have been working closely with the Seguin Police Department, FBI, Texas Rangers and ATF in reference to this threat.
Mr. Tony Albert was taken into custody in Sequin, Texas in reference to being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm and possession of Marijuana. During his apprehension he advised officers that "he was on his way to church to fulfill a prophecy". He is currently incarcerated in the Guadalupe County Correction with a bond of $200,000. According to family, Mr. Albert has a history of mental illness. There does not appear to be any other individuals involved at this time.
This is an on-going investigation as we continue to gather facts.
